The transformation of Japan from traditional feudal society to an industrial power in Asia in just years, but Japanese government had no intent to stop at the technical advances. The government of Japan had another ambition to dominate Asia. There were many reasons why the Japanese government wanted to go to war against the United States, Russia, China and British. The first reason why Japanese government wanted to go to war is because of the socio- political consequence that causes the mishandling of resumption of gold standards, causing export to shrink. According to the Depression Crisis and Responses: ââ¬Å" the Zaibatsu bank dumping yen for dollars and then once the Japanese government goes back to gold standards yen, yen gets devalue to half of a dollar and the banks doubled their money by repurchasing back yens. This doubled the bankerââ¬â¢s money in just one year (p.182, the Depression Crisis and Reponses). By doing this the bank are happy but leaves the economy in turmoil. The Japanese people belief that capitalists is greedy and selfish; while they were profiting from a country that was in depression. This led to the assassination of Prime Minister Hamaguchi and the finance minister Inoue and many important figure heads in Japan. The second reason is a series of incident occurred in Manchuria. The colonel Ishiwara, Kwantung armyââ¬â¢s operation offers belief that there is going to be a final war with the United States, and Manchuria is going to be a strategic importance in the war because of its mineral resource farm land for migration. Taking over Manchuria was against the wishes of the Japanese government the soldiers told themselves itââ¬â¢s a sacred mission that has to be carried out by the army to free china from it the westerners. The sacred mission also included the assassination of Marshall Zhang and 9-18-1931 incident of bombing the railway as pretext taking over Manchuria. Back in Japan people were celebrating the victory of taking over Manchuria, there were songs, newsreels and newspapers saying how great japan is and cheering for Manchuria as the new crown jewel of Japanese empire. Meanwhile in china there was another incident occurred with Japanese and Chinese troops outside Peking, China which led to war in China. Most of the china eventually gets taken by the Japanese army. Shanghai and Nanjing which was Chinese last defense fallen to Japanese in 1938. Japanese killed more than 300 thousand Chinese in more than a month. The Chinese eventually fought back and as two divided them the KMT and the CCP. By now Japanese is already in war with most of the Asia country, but Japanese government doesnââ¬â¢t feel safe the sleepy giant in the west the United States. The Navel government sends messages to agent Yoshikawa in September, 24, 1941 at Pearl Harbor asking him to track all the naval movement of American ships. On December, 7, 1941 Japanese launches an attack on the American fleet in Pearl Harbor. The attack lasted for two hours and the Japanese pilots damages American battle ships and killed 2,400 Americanââ¬â¢s. President Roosevelt declared war against the Japanese and Nazi Germany. Meanwhile back in japan the news traveled with their successful attack on United States Pearl harbor. The Japanese people supported what the Japanese government is doing and are willing to fight till the death for their country. The World War II has started with the allies being United States, Russia and British and the Axis being Nazi Germany, and Japan. Opportunities and challenges in tourism development In order to create a quality and effective tourism model, stakeholders involved in the tourism development process must consider long-term sustainability as compared to the Destination Life Cycle Model proposed by Butler (1980), a model maintaining six stages that illustrate growth and eventual decline as related to a specific tourism destination or travel concept. In order to create efficacy within a specific tourism model, planners must consider existing market trends and make projections about future resource procurement and strategy development to extend the life cycle of the tourist destination. Globally, market trends indicate that experienced travellers, as one relevant example, are looking for new, off-the-beaten-path vacation destinations that is leading to considerable growth in ethnic and rural tourism (GIPC 2008). The Destination Life Cycle serves as an appropriate template to measure sustainability of a development strategy, taking into consideration existing market conditions and influences, to make stakeholder-relevant improvements to service quality, environmental biodiversity, or even tangible tourism infrastructure development. There are multiple opportunities... This paper stresses that the five case studies involving Brazil, China, Iran, Tuvalu and India clearly illustrate the complexities and opportunities for ensuring efficacy in a tourism development model. The influence of economic policy and oversight in providing government-sponsored opportunities for economic growth for multiple service providers is significant when attempting to build long-term sustainability. This report makes a conclusion that failure to recognise more than simply the tangible infrastructure in tourism development limits the competitive advantages of a host destination and can actually shorten the life cycle of the region by negating diversity, cultural sensitivity, and flexibility necessary to gain positive market assessment of the tourism experience. Successful tourism development blends quantitative analyses with qualitative knowledge of market preferences and cultural relevancy and then utilising consultation with important stakeholders along the entire tourism value chain in order to achieve long-term results and sustainability for the existing tourism service model. It is only through engagement with critical stakeholders ranging from government to the local tourism support agents in the host community that a successful tourism development model can be constructed and implemented.

Analysis of The Lottery Essay The Lottery is a film based on the short story of the same name by Shirley Jackson. The story takes place in a small village, where the people held an anniversary activity of lottery. One person in the town is randomly chosen, and the person who got the lottery would be hit to death by stones for the sake of harvest of the following year. In my opinion, ââ¬Å"The Lotteryâ⬠is a surprise and horror story. The film begins under a friendly atmosphere. The people in the village are close and familiar with each other. Before the lottery, everyone seems in a peace mind and friendly to each other. For instance, Mrs. Hutchinson arrives late, just with an excuse of ââ¬Å"forgetting what day it wasâ⬠. They talk to each other as usual give me a false impression that the lottery is an event similar as the square dance that is welcomed and festive. I expect that the winner of the lottery will receive a prize, money or something. Mr. Warner who was the eldest person in the town says with pride, ââ¬Å"Seventy-seventh year I have been in the Lottery. â⬠I always think the lottery is a pleasant event until the very moment Tessie screams when she sees her husband pick the black dot. The conclusion surprises me that the winnerââ¬â¢s fate is death by friends and family. With this conclusion, the film becomes a horror story. The film centers on the actions of each town people from an objective perspective to reflect the blind obedience, less of rationality and cruel coldness of human nature of the whole town people. In this mundane town, everyone knows each other. However, when Tessie receives the black spot, Mrs. Delacroix tells her, ââ¬Å"Be a good sport Tessie. â⬠Peopleââ¬â¢s reflection to the cruel thing is quite cold-blooded. This film presents a weakness in human individuals. Lottery as such a terrible activity for so many years, with no objections or questions asked. Even someone doubts the lottery has been answered with ââ¬Å"There has always been a lottery. â⬠Even people may not be entirely comfortable with the event, but everyone still goes along with it. No one openly expresses fear or disgust toward the lottery. Even Tessie is friendly and pretending to be pleased to be present before she receives the black spot. I think if Tessie is not the target, she will also throw the stones to the winner. The film shows hypocrisy and human weakness in the small town. It is horrible when people always relying on the traditions, especially some brutal sacrificial ceremonies like the lottery. The holiday atmosphere and surprised conclusion of the lottery intensify the horror of the story. The horror of the lottery is not only the cruel behavior of the people, but also unconcerned reflection to the victim. They feel not guilt to the victim, and even excited when they throw the stones. The lurking evil of human kind is the most horror thing that reflected by the film.

Internet Security INTRODUCTION Many people today are familiar with the Internet and its use. A large number of its users however, are not aware of the security problems they face when using the Internet. Most users feel they are anonymous when on-line, yet in actuality they are not. There are some very easy ways to protect the user from future problems. The Internet has brought many advantages to its users but has also created some major problems. Most people believe that they are anonymous when they are using the Internet. Because of this thinking, they are not careful with what they do and where they go when on the "net." Security is a major issue with the Internet because the general public now has access to it. When only the government and higher education had access, there was no worry about credit card numbers and other types of important data being taken. There are many advantages the Internet brings to its users, but there are also many problems with the Internet security, especially when dealing with pers onal security, business security, and the government involvement to protect the users. THE INTERNET The Internet is a new, barely regulated frontier, and there are many reasons to be concerned with security. The same features that make the Internet so appealing such as interactivity, versatile communication, and customizability also make it an ideal way for someone to keep a careful watch on the user without them being aware of it (Lemmons 1). It may not seem like it, but it is completely possible to build a personal profile on someone just by tracking them in cyberspace. Every action a person does while logged onto the Internet is recorded somewhere (Boyan, Codel, and Parekh 3). An individual's personal security is the major issue surrounding the Internet. If a person cannot be secure and have privacy on the Internet, the whole system will fail. According to the Center for Democracy and Technology (CDT), any web site can find out whose server and the location of the server a person used to get on the Internet, whether his computer is Windows or DOS based, and also the Internet browser that was used. This is the only information that can be taken legally. However, it can safely be assumed that in some cases much more data is actually taken (1). These are just a few of the many ways for people to find out the identity of an individu... ... to the FBI (Rothfeder, "November 1996 Feature" 4). CONCLUSION Security for the Internet is improving, it is just that the usage of the Internet is growing much faster. Security is a key issue for every user of the Internet and should be addressed before a person ever logs on to the "net". At best, all users should have passwords to protect themselves, and businesses need to put up firewalls at all points of entry. Fahrenheit 451 and There Will Come Soft Rains Essay
A majority amount of stories may have a similar trait to another piece of writing. A large amount of stories have been compared in ways such as theme, settings, characters, irony, and close evidence of foreshadowing. Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury and ââ¬Å"There Will Come Soft Rains,â⬠by Ray Bradbury are an example of similar stories by sharing some of the same qualities. These two readings can be said to be identical in some ways by containing a common idea of negative effects of war and the value of the natural world but can be contrasted by being consisted of two different kinds of main characters. Fahrenheit 451 shows these aspects throughout the novel. In Fahrenheit 451 Mrs. Phelps says, Anyway, Pete and I always said, no tears nothing like that. Itââ¬â¢s our third and weââ¬â¢re independent. Be independent, we always said. He said, if I get killed off, you just go right and donââ¬â¢t cry, but get married again, and donââ¬â¢t think of me. (Bradbury 95) This shows negative effects of war by saying that Mrs. Phelps shouldnââ¬â¢t cry if her husband is killed and needs to get married again and be independent like her and her husband always said. This can be compared to all the wives who lose their husbands in war and become widows. In Fahrenheit it shows the value of the natural world. This is shown when Faber says, ââ¬Å"NO, no, itââ¬â¢s not books at all youââ¬â¢re looking for! Take it where you can find it, in old phonograph records, old motion pictures, and in old friends; look for it in nature and look for it in yourselfâ⬠( Bradbury 128). This shows that Faber values that natural and thinks everyone should look at it the way he does. Nature should be valued and many people take advantage of it in Faberââ¬â¢s opinion and even do it in todayââ¬â¢s world. Fahrenheitââ¬â¢s main character is Montag and is demonstrated With his symbolic helmet numbered 451 on his solid head, and his eyes all orange flame with- the thought of what came next, he flickered the igniter and the house jumped up in gorging fire that burned the evening sky red and yellow and black. (Bradbury 3) Montag is the main character who is the firefighter who ignites homes if they contain any books. This seems very odd because in todayââ¬â¢s society Fireman are supposed to stop fires and save lives not start them. These three points of comparison and contrast are also shown in Bradburyââ¬â¢s other story, ââ¬Å"There Will Come Soft Rains.â⬠The short story, ââ¬Å"There Will Come Soft Rainsâ⬠is similar to Fahrenheit 451 but readers can also see different aspects in both readings. ââ¬Å"This house was the one home left standing. At night the ruined city gave off a radioactive glow which could be seen for milesâ⬠(Bradbury 615). Radioactive means that there was some type of nuclear weapon that destroyed the city. So the one home that was left became independent after everything was destroyed. Nature will live on even if man is gone and nothing is living on earth (Bradbury 615-617). This is shown by nature taking over this city after all men depart. All of the plants and trees are still living by themselves with no help from and will continue to grow on their own. ââ¬Å"The house tried to save itself. Doors sprang tightly shut, but the windows were broken by the heat and the wind blew and sucked upon the fireâ⬠(Bradbury 618). The house was the main character because it was the only thing left in the city and was very significant. The house tried to save itself by fighting the fire and trying to stop it from burning it down just like our firefighters do today. Negative effects of war, value of the natural world, and main characters are all compared and contrasted in Fahrenheit 451 and ââ¬Å"There Will Come Soft Rains.â⬠Montag and the house were both the main characters from the different stories and could be said to be very different in many ways. Mrs. Phelps and her husband in Fahrenheit and the house in soft rains were both independent t and showed the trait of negative effects of war. The value of the natural world was shown in both stories by being mentioned many times and that people should real appreciate what it does for us and not take advantage of it. In the society of today, Americans dying and wives losing their husbands to violence in war is very visible and is a negative effect just as it is in both pieces of reading. In different eyes of readers these stories can be said to be similar and different in multiple ways.
